Disclaimer from the Author:
Been noodling around some ideas and after editing I found myself finding a new way of telling the story that y’all have been reading. It’s a dumb experiment But is indeed my story and my concept. Wish everyone could see the picture of it.
With this I wanna write it more and draw it less, I worked way too hard on the drawing and did not put enough effort into the story so I feel this is a great way to re-introducing this love story, now in a different and more (at least for me) fluid reading.
Thanks again for the ones that stuck around…Sorry because I tend to do this often BUT… I will post the other one soon enough.
Thank you and Enjoy!
PRELUDE
The soft wind blew as the night sky was covered in thick dark clouds; still, a soft powder snow fell gently over the region. The trees moved softly with the gentle wind, if you stood still enough you could hear the wood creek, even the piles of snow that accumulated over the branches could be heard falling on the now thick blanket of snow, that was covering every inch of the ground.
After some moments a big full moon let itself be shown from the clouds, illuminating and almost sparkling the snow layer in the meadows. As the shy dim light of the moon passed by the clouds, some of its light came in through a window. As the room was poorly lit the light of the moon helped to bring some light to it. As the rays came in, they gently showed the legs of a person sitting on the wooden floor.
His eyes were lost looking at the rays of light that almost in a dancing manner came in from his window. As he sat on the hardwood floor he held in his arms a woman, her long silver hair covered her back as she held from his shirt, it seemed like earlier they had a romantic encounter. He pulled a blanket she had over her covering her naked body, she rearranged as she felt his touch but was still deeply asleep with a slight smile on her lips. He passed his fingers over her cheek as he uncovered her face a bit from her long shining silver hair.
“I don’t deserve your love… or care for that matter,” he thought. His eyes turned back into the window looking at the moon that, as the wind blew, got covered again with thick clouds. The dimly lit room was only illuminated by a flickering candle on a table beside the window. The dancing flame of the candle cast eerie shadows in the room filled with books. His eyes still lingered around the small library, but as he scanned the room they stopped on a particular dark corner… almost as the shadows moved strangely, attracting his attention to that specific spot, as if the light and the shadows played mind games with him. But there was no joke or game, something was lingering in the dark, and that’s when he felt his body paralyzed, even heavy. He could not make his gaze go away from that spot as the shadows twisted themselves before him. His breathing turned into a panic, as he saw a hand crawl from the darkness, twitching and shaking. The decaying gray arm dragged the rest of its strange and squirm-inducing body. It emerged from the shadows, its gray and almost bare-boned body contorted, with its spine sticking out from its twisted back. Its long tangled hair trailed behind it.
The man felt his heart race as its bone-thin fingers gently grabbed his naked foot almost using it it to keep pulling its body onto the floor, as it lifted its head he couldn’t see its face clearly but two green eyes looked at him as it pulled twitchy and shaky almost like it could break itself as it stood…
He could hear its voice in his head, whispers that he was already accustomed to. The mere sight of it made his stomach turn but, whatever power it had over him, made him just motionless to its presence. Its green eyes looked at him almost like wanting to drag itself inside of him and take whatever was left of his soul to devour, but he was not its prey but his companion that slept soundly not knowing the danger that was just inches from her. He closed his eyes, begging for the demonic thing to stop and instead just take him. As he pleaded he heard it laugh, not in his mind but from it, it sounded like a dry old weak laugh, his pleas were just entertainment for it. He opened his eyes and saw it drag itself back into the darkness, slowly but not before turning back at him, and in his mind, he could hear its threat “I will be waiting for you…” it said in the same dry old voice.
After some moment he felt his body respond to him once more, he breathed deeply and also in a cold sweat, and as he regained his strength he hugged his lover tight as he was still in angst from what he had just seen. She opened her eyes a bit confused and looked at him.
- Are you alright? - she asked as she felt him shiver.
He did not answer. He only kept her close not looking away at that dark corner.
***
The snow continued falling, blanketing the land in silence. Suddenly, a man's scream pierced the darkness. Footsteps were marked on the blanket of snow. As we follow them drops of a red liquid are followed in the trail as it taints the white pure snow…
The crunch of the snow was heard closer as suddenly on his knees the same man was crying and screaming at the top of his lungs, his sobs were heard in the quiet of the night. As he curled almost holding himself tight shivering as he kept saying – I didn’t want this… I DIDN’T WANT THIS!!!- the moon again showed itself from the clouds and as its glow shone over him the scarlet red blood almost glowed with its light. He lifted himself and saw his hands drenched in blood.
- this… was not part of the deal...- he said sobbing.
- payment was needed – a voice said as a pair of hands passed over his shoulders, black inked hands but with a delicate look passed down his arms and the gray face of a beautiful woman with long black hair made itself appear, the face… of the one that was her lover from before. Her hands pulled his face to her as she smiled at him, but he saw her eyes… it was those green eyes of that night. He pushed her as he tried to run from her but fell again in the thick snow.
- YOU ARE NOT HER!!!- he said screaming as he turned to see her. The gray naked woman stood looking at him, her hands almost to her elbows where a dark tone color, her long black flowing hair almost floating moved gently with the wind, but those horrible green eyes looked at him. She smiled with her white grin, it was not a happy smile nor a reassuring one at all… it was a mocking one.
- but her body is, her body is nice...- she said as she passed her fingers over her bare skin – so sweet, so pure… -
- DON’T TOUCH HER!! - he stood up as she stumbled to get on his legs.
- but my love… - her voice changed to one that he remembered – it’s me… - she lifted her arms as she started to slowly walk toward him. He looked in horror, how whatever monster was possessing the body of her loved one. As she walked towards him, the snow remained untouched, almost as if she had no weight, as if she were a ghost.
- I will take you back to where you came from… THAT I PROMISE!! - as he said that he felt her grip on his neck tightening hard, he felt like he couldn’t breathe clinging to her arm as she lifted him.
- I am growing tired of you – she said its voice turned. She started to slowly lift both of them into the night sky, she turned and looked at the cliff to a deep fall into a dark ice-covered lake, so large it was hard to see the edge of it. She turned to him as he choked by her strong grip.
As she looked at him smiling with her green eyes she floated just over the lake, a clear fall to the water.
- Goodbye my love… - she said in the voice of his dead lover. As she let go of him he saw her almost in slow motion how he fell down the ice lake. As he fell he hit hard the layer of ice feeling how it broke his bones by the immense force of the fall. In his last moments, he saw himself surrounded by light… and glowing hands that held to him.
“I’m sorry...” was the last thoughts before he was no more.
The gray woman looked down and turned her attention back to where she was born again, she smiled and started to make her way back.
-My next meal… is young and sweet as well… - she said as its voice turned almost into a hissing sound.
Chapter 1: At the Rivers Edge
The busy streets of the town were starting to lower their foot traffic as the night was coming to a close. Most places come to life after sunset when people finish work or school. But this was barely a city more like a big town, most of the areas were local businesses and locally owned places, and it flourished because of the younger customers that came from the surrounding campus from the university.
There was a subway station that connected most edges of the place, usually, University students stuck around the campus areas and their dormitories but some enjoyed the outer life from campus. Some even lived there close by and just needed to travel on a bus or subway to their destination.
In the semi-full wagon of the subway, several people sat around or stood as they traveled to their final destination, every stop took some time due to the distance from any populated area. This allowed tired riders to decompress or lonely travelers to have some personal time.
In one of the seats of the row sat a young woman, she was dressed in a purple coat with a hoodie on, she wore some leggings while she lifted one of her feet trying to massage them a bit… she looked a bit tired, seemed like the long shift of the day took a toll on her. Her bright red hair shyly stuck out from her hood that fell over her cheek, almost like she was trying to hide her identity… but it wasn’t that so much, she just felt a bit cold from the changing weather of the season, it was October so it was starting to get a bit colder every night. Her uniform didn’t help to keep the cold out and she didn’t want to have a heavy backpack on her way home, this was a decision she always took but regretted every night when she started feeling the brisk breeze of the air. She adjusted her shoe as she noticed her stop was close, she took her bag and stood up, she felt a bit of pain on her feet but she knew she was just some blocks from her home, and to finally have a night to decompress.
The subway finally stopped, and as usual, she was one of the few people who got out at that particular stop. She walked a bit as she adjusted her bag and checked her wristwatch.
- 8:15 pm… well, I’ll grab something to eat along the way – she said as she put her earbuds back. She slowly started to make her way up the stairs of the subway station. It was a rustic one that she always found interesting, the walls were red bricks and the lights had a strange vibe that made it feel very cozy for some reason. As she walked the staircase she found herself on the main street of her town. The streets were almost like little hills, and her apartment building was just around the corner from the little hill road.
She made her way to her favorite burger shop and ordered one for dinner, it was already late but it was worth the extra 15 minutes to get it. She usually stood by the bar beside the big window wall while waiting. You could see the bustling streets ahead, but her mind was preoccupied tonight. A strange feeling lingered, as though she was being followed. She had been feeling uneasy since the beginning of the month, her paranoia growing stronger every day.
- Nebbia! Your order is up! - said a voice on the counter, she turned and smiled at the server and thanked her as she grabbed the bag with her. She walked out and started to notice a light rainy breeze, she sighed as she put her hood up once again and started her way up her place.
“It’s just around the corner, thankfully!” she thought as she crossed the street and into the avenue that took her to her building. As she started to walk up the little hill she noticed that the blinking street lights started to turn on. They shone over the thick, dense trees that were already in their seasonal orange-red coloring, making everything look a bit more mystical. She loved this season... it just felt like home for some reason.
She paused to gaze at the sky, where the full moon lingered between eerie clouds. The horror genre was something she enjoyed but avoided when living alone. She took a glimpse of her apartment building, an old vintage building with a colonial look, she always adored the architecture of it, even when the building was a bit beat up. Despite the dimly lit hallways and occasional strange sounds from the pipes, it was still a pleasant place to live. She walked into the building put in the access key and walked into the main hallway where her room was, she had the last apartment in the bottom section, and she loved it, just she ignored the constant issues with the light that worked poorly during some nights making it hard to see her surroundings, at the end of the day it was a very calm neighborhood, yet she still felt that it was a tad annoying at times.
She opened her door and locked the door behind her, she turned on her light to reveal the cozy apartment. The kitchen and living room were connected but it was enough space for her to be comfortable and had enough room. To the right was a small hallway leading to her bathroom, while her room was to the left. Right in front of her room was the laundry room. It was just her in this place and she was happy with it.
She left her bag on a little chair next to a table where she left her keys and little items. She looked around as she took her coat off and hung it on the entrance, she still felt a bit off this night as if something was not right. She grabbed her burger and set it on the kitchen table as she slowly started to set herself to eat some dinner.
The apartment was quiet. She appreciated the silence as she ate her meal and reflected on her day. Her eyes just slowly inspected her little living room with her brown sofa, her TV, and the collection of movies she had bought over the years. She turned to the window that was pointing towards the main plaza of the tiny apartment building. Some trees were already decorated in seasonal colors. When the wind blew, leaves fell like in a dream.
“Maybe I’ll take a shower before bed, it felt like such a long day ” she thought to herself a bit tired as she ate her burger.
While in her thoughts her phone suddenly broke the silence, it started vibrating loudly in the center of the table. She slowly leaned into it as she saw the name of her friend “Charlie” and an awkward picture of a purple-haired woman in it. She sighed and picked it up.
- What’s up? - Nebbia said as she answered as she set her call on to the speaker.
- HEY! I caught you awake!- the lively voice of a younger woman sounded on the other side of the phone. Nebbia kept eating.
- Yeah… I’m having dinner, just got home – she said still with her mouth full.
- Ah, long shift… that sucks-
- yeah… I just need a shower. God I need one -
- That’s cool, hey… -
Nebbia knew that “hey...” all too well. It usually came with “SO! I have a..” or “Wanna do X...” both situations were just trouble for her in one way or another.
- Not tonight Charlie… I am honestly very tired – she said genuinely.
- BUT how about tomorrow night!? It’s the weekend and wanted to do a double date with you! - she said almost in a begging manner. Nebbia sighed as she left the last little piece of her burger.
- Double date? What kind of horrible example of a human being are you pairing with this time? - Nebbia said in a sarcastic tone.
- Oh for fucks sake, he is not bad looking – she said.
- No I mean you, every girl you end up going out with has either the look of a ghost OR the personality of a Tim Burton character, no wait… the look as well – she jokingly said to her.
- Ha… ha… well for your information I thought you might know it is INDEED a Halloween Party, so that look works either way – Charlie said almost proud of her poor decisions – It’s at the usual bar, and you might know that I got you Sean to be your date -
- Sean? As in… -
- Yeah your crush from who knows when – she even said it even more proud of herself. Nebbia sat back and passed her hand over her cheek, that offer was very tempting, She admired Sean from a distance, unsure how to start a conversation due to her lack of social skills.
- I don’t hear a NO, want me to pick you up at 8 pm tomorrow then? - she asked even more teasingly. After moments of thinking she took a deep breath.
- 8 pm sounds good, anything I need to wear or do I need a costume? - she asked.
- Just wear black, something accordingly –
- Very well then, keep me in the loop if anything changes – Nebbia said as she grabbed her phone again.
- You got it! Get some rest I’ll see you! BYE-
- Bye – she said and the call ended. She slowly left the phone on the table and looked at her burger, butterflies started to rattle in her stomach “I feel like a dumb teenager again, you’re not a kid anymore for god's sake” she thought as she slapped her cheeks bit with her hands almost like trying to wake up from a dream. But it was very real. She smiled to herself and finished eating her burger.
After she cleaned up she finally got the chance to get into the shower, as she felt the water fall over her she felt a bit more relaxed after the long work day. She looked down at her tub, seeing the soap wash off from her hair and body, she wondered for a moment “I don’t think I ever have taken a bath in this place”.She has been living in the same apartment for a while now. The rent is reasonable, and the location is great. However, she feels like something needs to change. To be perfectly honest, it's more of a lingering feeling that makes her look over her shoulder every day. She closed the water faucet and grabbed a towel, as she dried herself she heard something on the other side of the bathroom, like a thump. She dressed up as fast as she could and slowly opened the door from her bathroom. The hallway was off but she had a light on in the kitchen just in case she needed anything in the middle of the night. The dim light from the kitchen top was just enough to notice anything, but all seemed to be quiet now “Maybe the neighbors are doing something” she thought as she gave a perfectly cohesive explanation for that random sound. Walls tend to be thin at times, but it was on rare occasions. After some moments of looking, she finally walked out slowly making her way down the hall, she looked around her living room trying to see if anything had fallen, she walked to her door to make sure it was closed and locked, but she did in fact lock after she came in. As she stood there she felt that again, as if someone was looking at her, somewhere that she could not figure. A shiver ran down her spine as she gazed out of the window at the park. As she looked out of the window, she noticed the trees swaying gently in the light breeze. It appeared as if it was already raining outside. She stepped closer to the window, trying to scan the surroundings for any signs of intrusion. However, just like her living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, everything outside was quiet and deserted. She was all alone with only the peaceful sound of the raindrops hitting the ground.
As she continued to dry her hair, she walked towards her room. Once she reached her destination, she closed the door behind her, as if to keep whatever was lurking in the shadows outside. This made her feel more at ease and allowed her to sleep soundly throughout the night. You know what they say “Whatever you don’t see, won’t hurt you.”
***
The end of her shift was fast approaching at the small cafe where she worked. She found great pleasure in working there, and despite starting as a waitress, she had risen to the position of assistant manager. However, at times she still had to attend to orders and run around frantically. She checked the time and began to wrap up her work. Despite being busy, the job at least paid the bills. She said goodbye to the girls and set herself off, it was 6 pm and she had enough time to get home, get cleaned up, and maybe have a nice night with her friend “… and date?” she thought as she blushed a bit as she stood waiting on the subway.
The station was somewhat busy, but still manageable for her to navigate through. As she scrolled through her phone to look for a good song, she suddenly felt a strange sensation - the same feeling as if someone was watching her. She slowly lifted her eyes and saw across the train tracks, just on the other side. A man was standing under a blinking light, which gave it a creepy aura as if it was from a horror movie. He wore strange clothes, almost like he was in a costume of some sort. He was tall and slim, and it appeared as if he was wearing a cape. However, the poor lighting made it difficult to make out his exact appearance. As the light kept blinking it did it erratically and suddenly… he was gone. She gasped a bit, "Did I just see that?" she thought as she took a few steps forward. However, the passing train startled her.
- what the hell! - she exclaimed, she waited for the train to stop and as fast as she could she walked onto the train and quickly walked to the other side to see if she could see the strange man, but as it started to move the man was no longer there. As she leaned on the pole next to the door, her music began to play and she jumped in surprise, realizing she had forgotten she was wearing earbuds. "Oh my god, what is wrong with me?" she thought, taking a deep breath to calm herself down.
She finally arrived at her stop and walked quickly along her usual route, almost as if trying to escape the darkness of the subway. She stopped for a moment to look back, for some reason expecting to see the strange man again, but there wasn’t anyone there, giving her a sigh of relief but as she turned up the stairs she saw someone that looked exactly like that same man looking down at her. She felt a wave of panic wash over her as her face turned pale.
- Who are you? - she asked, Her voice echoed in the empty hallways, even though it wasn't that late in the day still some of the sun made its way down the subway exit. - wh… what do you want from me? - She asked again and took a few steps back. Suddenly, she bumped into someone.
- Whoa! - a man said. Nebbia turned in shock, but this man was someone she knew. - Hey Nebbia, I thought you seemed familiar – he said. The man was tall with black hair, he had a red shirt and jeans, he wore a black jacket over him and on his shoulder a backpack.
- Oh, Sean? - Nebbia said awkwardly. - I’m sorry it's just – as she turned to the top stairs there was nobody there.
- Is something wrong? - he said as he turned up to the stairs as well. Nebbia was a bit confused, she swore she saw that same man up the stairs blocking her from leaving. - Are you ok? - he asked as he noticed she was visibly startled.
- Yeah, just it’s been a long week, maybe? - she said – Weird that we bumped like this – she said as she smiled at him.
- Charlie said that it be a good idea to pick you up – he said smiling at her.
- Oh, I didn’t know you knew where I lived – she said as she fiddled with her fingers, she did this every time she felt anxious or nervous, something Charlie used to make fun of her even when they were children.
- I don’t but Charlie sent me the address and hoped that my phone wouldn’t make me lose myself along the way – he said as he showed his phone with the tiny map on it.
- Ok then, well… I need to change and such.- she said as she started to walk up the stairs.
- lead the way – he said as he followed her closely.
***
Nebbia opened the door to her place and invited him in. He walked inside, smiling curiously as he looked around her home. She left her things in their usual spot.
- Nice place you got here, very cozy – he said as he looked around.
- Thanks, make yourself at home. I’m just gonna freshen up and get changed and such, I’ll be right back. - she said smiling as she walked quickly down the hallway.
- I’ll be right here – he said, but she did notice a strange teasing tone on him. She probably ignored all his insinuations so far, she was not good at socializing or dating for that matter. As she took a quick shower and got herself back to her room she strolled around in her closet and looked for something relaxed but nice at least. As she looked she played with her long strand of hair that she had on her right side, playing like a teenager that was going on her first date. But this wasn’t her first date at all… yet she did want to make an effort to look right for the night. She grabbed a short black buttoned dress, the fabric was a bit heavy but it looked good for the party, she looked for some light leggings because the night would be cold and put on her black sneakers. She gazed at her reflection in the mirror beside her closet. She grabbed a purple knitted sweater that resembled a cardigan and had buttons on the front and put it on.
“I look nice… right?” she thought. She finally walked outside and found Sean looking at her movies, a bit confused by the strange titles she had in her library.
- sorry for keeping you waiting – she said a bit in a shy tone. Sean turned to her and smiled.
- That’s fine – he said as he looked at her almost scanning every inch of her. - You look good, you sure you won’t be cold in that? - he asked as he walked towards her. She blushed a bit as she smiled.
- I think I’ll be ok – she said as she fiddled again with her fingers. He walked closer to her smiling.
- Wanna head out? - he asked – Or you wanna stick around here? -
She looked at him, the invitation was there… right there. She looked into his eyes, there was a look in him that was very inviting, but this was not her way of doing things, she literally just met him, and even when she saw him and maybe shared a couple of words she did not feel completely sure about just taking that shot. Nebbia smiled at him as she walked towards her backpack.
- I don’t wanna leave Charlie hanging, but let's see where the night takes us – she said. He shrugged and took his bag with him as she adjusted his jacket.
- As you wish – he said a bit annoyed almost under his breath.
***
The bar was not that far from her apartment complex, down the avenue, and towards the other side there was a park area, she enjoyed walking down this part of town because it had the best places to walk and disconnect from most city blocks. Especially with the fact that there was a river that passed by crossing this part of the city. The subway did not pass by because of the river, so on that side of town you either walk to it or drive to it, and it was where Charlie lived. As they walked and tried to small talk Nebbia noticed the bridge that crossed the river, she smiled as she looked at him – It’s not that far from here – she said as she pointed to the stone construction.
- So tell me, how do you know Charlie? - he asked.
- Oh, we have known each other since we were kids. She is almost like a sister to me. - she admitted.
- Oh you two are that close huh? -
- Very, her mom pretty much took care of me when I was a kid – she said as she passed a finger over the rail of the bridge, she could hear the water pass by under them, it was almost relaxing even.
- Oh, didn’t know that. No parents? -
- No, I have my mom… – she kept quiet for a moment as her eyes lingered on the water.
- Gotta be weird to have her as a sister, she’s an oddball I feel –She felt annoyed by his teasing tone, which she recognized as his habitual way of speaking.
- She’s my only friend, to be honest, and that’s fine by me – she said.
- Sure, whatever -
Nebbia felt like the conversation was going nowhere, or maybe he was a bit frustrated that his way was not going where he wanted it to be. Nebbia hated that, it was kind of strange to see how quickly his personality just bloomed before her, very self-absorbed in a way. As they got close to the bar she noticed her friend outside, as always dressed in strange attire, her purple hair in a ponytail and black outfit almost like a catsuit with a skeleton drawn in it. Nebbia walked to her and smiled as she turned and vividly she raised her arms and hugged her.
- NEBBI! I’m so glad you came! And he found you! - she said.
- Yeah – Nebbia said smiling a bit forced.
- Shall we then? - Charlie said as she grabbed the waist of another girl dressed like her, sporting a purple catsuit and bright red hair.
- Sure, I need a beer – Sean said as he walked behind them.
As they walked into the party, Nebbia stood still and observed the sight before her. She could see the bright lights, people wearing strange outfits, and loud chatter over the music that was playing at maximum volume. The smell of smoke and beer was in the air, most likely from those who had spilled their drinks on the floor.
“What am I doing here?” she thought as she saw Sean already with his attention on something else not even noticing she was not by his side, Charlie was already with a group of friends and as well… having such a nice time. She took a couple of steps back, she felt deep in herself that for once, this was not the place she should be. She held onto the straps of her backpack purse turned away and started walking away from the party. As she walked down the street she grabbed her phone and looked at the messages, she was trying to find a way to explain herself.
She walked as far as the bridge was, seeing constantly the phone for some reason hoping to receive a message from anyone, maybe Charlie saying “Hey where are you? Why did you leave?? Did something happen?” However, she probably wouldn't know until the next day, even though she knew her friend well. She waited for 20 minutes before realizing she was wasting her time hoping for a pity chat.
- I expect too much from people – she whispered to herself as she looked down the river. As she turned around slowly, she noticed something that shocked her. The strange man she had seen before was once again standing at the other end of the bridge, under the light, looking at her. She felt so much fear as she stood there, staring at him. He was so close to her, just across the small street.
- Who are you? What do you want? -Nebbia asked him, but he remained silent, which made her uneasy. - I’ll call the cops on you! - she said as she had her phone on hand. He did not move he just stood there under the light, she felt fear again… that fear that just grew and grew at every single moment she was standing there. “home is not that far, I can run for it...” she thought as she felt like her body was shaking in fear. “come on Nebbia… just run for it… NOW” as she turned and she started to run she found him standing in front of her, with his emotionless face. She whimpered as she fell on her back, now in a much more clear view she noticed how strange he looked, specially… his green glowing eyes and his pale blue face.
- You need… to come back… and help me… - he said in a ghostly voice, Nebbia felt something tight around her arms and legs, as glowing white hands held her.
- LET ME GO!!! - she screamed as she was lifted high making her scream in fear. - PLEASE LET ME GO!!! - she begged as she tried to pull herself from the hands but they held her tight. As she looked she was lifted over the river, her body tensed in fear – NO I DON’T WANT TO DIE!!- she screamed in a panic. But suddenly he was in front of her, his dead eyes with a deep green glow looked at her.
- It’s the only way… - he said, and as he spoke these words the hands let her go. As she fell into the freezing water, she felt hands pulling her deep down into the river.
The street was quiet once more, as if nothing ever happened.
But in the empty street, the ringing of a phone broke the silence a message on the broken screen read.
“ Hey, where are you?” from Charlie.
HEY, you made it!
