Smut on Books.
I read Credence and I have things to say.

I do not consider myself a book worm in the slightest, the last book that I read ( and it’s a personal tradition since I bought in a Half Price book store) was Pet Sematary by Steven King every Halloween season. I have indeed read a bunch of horror revolved books, such as Dracula, Interview with the Vampire, most of Lovecraft books and when I was younger R.L. Stein was my favorite author ( Goosebumps and Fear Street books where my to go options). When I was a dweeb ( I still am… that didn’t change) I read the Hobbit, The Lord of the rings … Not all of them because I couldn’t keep my eyes open with the Simarilion… AT ALL.
But this last few weeks I found myself in the midst of having more energy, a better mental state and… I don’t wanna spent my days just drawing, and movies can go so far. And lately I think I mentioned it in one of our podcasts ( check our PODCAST here btw)that I wanted to try something maybe new… and my Youtube has been bombarding me with all that stuff… all… that… hot… stuff.
Yes I am talking about SMUT BOOKS.
I want to do a statement, for all you newbies in my site… I AM NO STRANGER FOR SMUT. I can’t write for shit of it ( I should it’s not hard please comment if you think it be a hilarious idea) but I do work on one with my hubby and I make the illustrations for it.
So yes it’s not like I popped my cherry with this book, it’s just a new/old format. BUT ANYWAY. Let’s get in to it.
Smut a way of life…(?)
Credence by Penelope Douglas is a story about a girl named Tiernan de Has who suddenly goes orphan from a double suicide from her parents that where very rich and famous people (?) and ends up in Colorado with her estranged Uncle Jake Van der Verg and his two boys Noah and Kaleb in the middle of bum fuck nowhere in the mountains.
The way I bumped with this train wreck was everyone talking about how “taboo” it is and how … well WRONG it is. And I was you know what… I am up for this horrible experience.
After hounding my coworker that is indeed in fact in charge of the book area in my store I asked the dumb stupid question of “IS IT THAT BAD?” she was “I mean… it’s something you gotta experience if you are curious”, boy howdy say no more!
I had my fair share of horrible experiences on my life for my damn own decisions on consuming media… sometimes I don’t get back normal… if there was ever a normal me.
But with that let’s just go with what this book is about in a bigger picture, or smaller words. INCEST… maybe. It is indeed a weird taboo to involve not to mention… the big ass AGE GAP, like the age gap made me feel weird, like badly weird. But that didn’t really show till later. For starters I was already influenced by media… I fell for the stupid videos I watch like an idiot for before bed to laugh while the sleeping pills kick so I am basically high while watching it… and something does rub in.
That being said, the way the people speaking of it just made me more curios about the whole thing and I said I need to read this thing, and take advantage of my discount for my birthday so it’s cheaper.
I was ready for a BAD book, a bad romance book.
But… I was uncomfortably surprised by a character that was so god damn torn and empty that I said… Oh no… OH NO.
The story starts with her confronting the death of her parents and the fact that well she was already alone, cause her parents where assholes that only cared for themselves and she was just a part of a list of things they needed for their appearance, which at that point I was… OH FUCK, no. All my journey with Tiernan was really like watching a horror movie, that’s how it felt like… At the start…
I think the idea of how the Uncle just POPPED OUT like “Hey… I am your Uncle, I am the step brother of your dad, we kinda are family but we ain’t, but HEY your dad said YOUR MINE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU. Oh did I mention you that I HATE HIS FUCKING GUTS???!!!”
I can’t blame her on taking the invitation to Bump Fuck Nowhere Colorado when her life is like… why? Why am I staying here by myself in this house where I have a constant reminder of how my parents where total self absorbing narcissistic assholes. I would of taken the damn risk, any where is better than here, also the mountains!
Respectfully, I think the real kink started way later in the book, I loved that I got to know Uncle Jake the hot 40 (I think or more I HOPE) year old mountain guy that in my brain I just pictured him as Joel from the last of us… the game though, he did not give me Pedro Pascal Vibes.
The protective type of guy but… IT’S SMUT, this ain’t The last of Us this is a guy that is gonna fuck a teenager.
They move to the two boys, well “BOYS” Noah is like 21(?) I did not pay attention, I was trying hard to not picture him as a young Chris Evans, cause when I was explaining to my hubby what he was or how he looked like he just said “OH so Captain America?” And me “FUCK YOU BRO, WHY?”
Then… they had me with the last and the real deal in this book, MY boy from this book and yes I loved his fucking character, I don’t recall falling for a BOOK dude, a BOOK character. Kaleb. For me putting a face on him or a voice was HARD, there wasn’t an actor or guy I pictured him as. Especially cause the guy does not TALK, he can’t speak. So any edge lord actor can work… at the end I drew him in my mind I guess.
SO… What was really MY opinion?
It is, what I call a reverse ass backwards romance, she did things that are meant for SMUT. But there is a very interesting story, with very interesting characters. I felt really cozy in most of the explanations of the place, reminded me of my old home here where I was in the middle of nowhere, the peace and quiet of nature. Her idea of how being alone and abandoned was a tough read at moments, the way the boys had a rough time ( I am talking of the 3 of them) so there is a compelling story besides the just explicit scenes… and all the descriptions of abs, arms and jawlines ( ALL THE FUCKING JAWLINES… WHY???!!!)
After finishing the book, after a week I got it, I laid in my bed thinking about what just happened within the pages of this book. I went to bed and slept. Got up and went to work, with my earbuds on I heard my rock play mix and on with my work day. I went for my break around 11:30 am and I sat next to the girl that recommended me NOT to read this book. She gave me a look while she had chex mix and with her stupid quirky face she asked… “You finished it?”
My answer was “ I NEED VODKA”.
The book itself was fun but then I tried to come back to the good old days, the times where my smut … IS WORSE. I get it why girls like it, I get it why they fall for my baby boy Kaleb even though he is a damn brute… but it was rather generic. I’ve read enough smut to say… this is MID but enjoyable. I do recommend it if you wanna experience a 2 brothers one cousin thing, or a Uncle Niece thing… or whatever the fuck that was.
I am still open to the idea of reading some other of Penelope Douglas books, but I gotta take a breather from this.
For now, I hope… you find god and read something with actual porn.

What to Read Next you ask?
Well like I mentioned before, there is no real recommendations after this train wreck but if you are indeed interested in cursing yourself there are some stories I have read along my paths. I did not mention I love mangas and for me is an easier way to read ( and find) so here are my options:
Drug Candy by Lee Hyun-Min is a story about harassment… that’s it. Guy has a shitty marriage and finds a free life girl that he just loves to fool around with… till it’s too much. It’s an older one but I enjoy it for what it was.
I Wanted to be Hurt By Love by Shiruka Bakaudon it’s still on going (?). It’s a story about a girl neglected and bullied that finds love on a guy from her school… she has severe issues and sometimes she just goes and gets down and dirty with older guys… yeah it’s a fun read. Spoiler from the start, she is going to die by her lover’s hand… this is just a whirlpool to see how it evolves in to it. Good read… very stressful also.
Aku no Hana by Oshimi Shuzo. Kasuga steals the gym clothes of a girl he likes from school and the weird psycho girls from his class finds out, she tells him if he doesn’t do what she says she will tell on him. The story goes for so long and so intense it’s a train wreck of teen emotions and feelings, they adapted the first manga on an anime and it’s a roto scope show… I can’t make that up it is a wild ride. But I preferred the manga it’s so much easier to digest… kinda. The author has an amazing set of other weird kinky stories that I SUGGEST, all of them strange and compelling so make sure to check it out.
For an end note I would just like to add other options which everyone once they see them ( if you are indeed familiar with it) you are going to say “UGH, you are such a poser!” No… I honestly fell in to this two works the same way I fell in to this book… MEDIA INFLUENCERS.
Good Night Punpun by Inio Asano, the story of Punpun … it’s just his damn story, it covers a lot of things, depression, existence, death… suicide… everything, from the eyes of him being a small child with destructive parents and then him turning in to age and finding out how shitty he is. IS LONG, but interesting. Everyone says it’s awful, but it’s one to find a perspective to how awful it can be… I read it in the low point in my life and I am still here homies.
No Longer Human, Manga adaptation by Junji Ito and original story and book by Osamu Dazai. It’s a hard read, Yozo Oba is the son of a wealthy family, he plays the clown when in reality he is being abused by the people that work in the family home and others in his extent family from a young age. It’s the story of how he copes with life and how can it go down deep in to darkness. This is allegedly the auto biograph of the author, and it’s a long hard read. I recommend the Junji Ito adaptation it just portraits a lot of the horrors visually in a very Junji Ito way, there is another adaptation but it’s loosely following the original book. Usamaru Furuya ( author of Suicide Circle) did the other adaptation making it longer in more volumes.
Metamorphosis ( or Emergence) by Shido L. You see… this is the original “WTF did I just read” book in my life and what was worse… I had to read it TWICE because the page I bumped with it cut a WHOLE chapter of it making me very confused by everything on my first read. This is IN FACT a Hentai Manga, this is not SMUT this is plain as day HENTAI, but… what it portraits, even said by the author, is the risks of getting in to drugs and how it will spiral in to addiction and your life crashing down so tremendously he had to do it in a Hentai format… sure my bud we all know it’s your kink he even admitted as much. And it was a weird read, for real it was WEIRD… it caught me off guard. If taboo’s you want TABOO YOU WILL BE SERVED IN HERE MY FRIEND. A lot of the people that read it where like the edge lords of manga back when it came out, cause it’s a naughty book. If you get turned on by all this well…
